Even though the pit is usually a male-dominated area, girls, feel free to throw down to your hearts content. Although there will usually be at least two chicks throwing it down in a good set, more girls need to get their asses in there! The last show I was at [Aquabats w/ Streetlight Manifesto] It was the middle of the Streetlight set. I'm in a skanking pit. I look around, not one other girl. I'm dripping sweat and I ignore it. When i leave, i hear this woman say, "wow a girl in the pit. cool". It made me laugh.
Sometimes, however, I will get the fuck away from a pit faster than you can spell moshpit. One such occasion was the pit at the AFI w/ Sick Of It All and The Dear &Departed. Sick of It All is a screamo band from New York. During their set I shove my through the crowd to the moshpit. I am greeted by three skinheads and one very brave [or very stupid] skinny guy. I think FUCK NO and get out of there as fast as possible.
The first time I came into contact with a moshpit was at my first Avenged Sevenfold concert. I was standing near the front and three big college guys decide to rush the stage. My dad drags me out by one arm, and all I can think is "You suuuuuck. Why didn't you leave me there?"
